A dental bridge can be used to replace one tooth, but it can also fill in gaps left by multiple consecutive teeth. The crowns at either end of the bridge are anchored to your natural teeth so that the false teeth between them (known as “pontics”) can fill in the space. The crowns and the pontics are made out of tooth-colored materials that can be shaded to match your specific smile, making your new teeth look as dazzling and natural as your other teeth.
How is a bridge fitted?
A bridge consists of false teeth rigidly attached between two crowns. The teeth on either side of the gap are prepared for these crowns and the bridge is cemented into place. In some cases, it’s possible to use implants to replace the missing teeth rather than using the existing teeth. Once a bridge is cemented into position, it looks and works just like natural teeth.
